Delphine had another fantastic year in 2021, despite the difficult circumstances created by COVID-19.  She broke the World Record in Tricks twice, and took Gold in Slalom & Tricks at the Europe & Africa Championships.

Male

Jason Sleep (MP4) - AUS

Jason has had a very good year entering as many tournaments as he could that were conducted around COVID-19 restrictions.  He only missed two throughout the year, and that was due to them being cancelled.

Jason gave a great performance at the Aussie Masters setting a new Australian Record in Tricks with a score of 1,450 points, and he also equaled his Australian Slalom Record.  At the Victorian State Titles he set a new Australian Record in Slalom and equaled his Trick Record again.  At the Australian National Championships (run in conjunction with Waterski) he continued with his winning ways again equaling his Australian Record in Tricks in the first round and then setting a new World Record in the second with a score of 1,540 points.  All in all a very good year for Jason.

IWWF Disabled Female Skier of the Quarter Century - Katie Mawby

Nationality: USA

Category / Division: V2/3 / Vision Impaired

Over the last 25 years, Katie’s combined achievements have surpassed all other female skiers.  Since her first World Championships in 1995, she has competed in an astounding 12 World Championships.  Katie’s drive and determination have seen her come back from many injuries over the years, and she has continued to win World Titles and set records.

Katie has been awarded the Athlete of Year Award twice and has been on the podium an impressive 41 times at World Titled events resulting in:

  • 38 World Titles
  • 14 World Records (6 in Slalom, 4 in Tricks and 4 in Jump)

Katie is a worthy winner of the Disabled Female Skier of the Quarter Century, and her achievements will be hard to beat.

IWWF Disabled Male Skier of the Quarter Century - Daniele Cassioli

Nationality: Italy

Category / Division: V1 / Vision Impaired

Over the last 25 years, Daniele’s combined achievements have surpassed all other male skiers.  Since his first World Championship in 2003, he has competed in a total of 7 World Championships and has continually pushed the boundaries, as can be seen by the amount of World Titles and Records he has.

Daniele has been awarded the Athlete of the Year Award 4 times and has been on the podium an impressive 29 times at World Titled events resulting in:

  • 25 World Titles
  • 20 World Record (7 in Slalom, 11 in Tricks & 2 in Jump)

Daniele is a worthy winner of the Disabled Male Skier of the Quarter Century, his passion for the sport is evident as he continues to raise the bar for those that follow.

IWWF Disabled Female Skier of the Decade - Claire Ellis

Nationality: Great Britain

Category / Division: A/L2 / Standing

Over the last decade, Claire’s combined achievements have surpassed all other female skiers.  Claire’s first World Championships was in 2005, and she has competed in 4 World Championships over the last decade, continually raising the standard, as can be seen by the amount of World Titles and Records she has.

In the last decade Claire has been awarded the Athlete of the Year Award 4 times and has been on the podium an impressive 17 times at World Titled events resulting in:

  • 17 World Titles
  • 17 World Record (6 in Slalom, 3 in Tricks & 8 in Jump)

Claire is a worthy winner of the Disabled Female Skier of the Decade.

IWWF Disabled Male Skier of the Decade - Daniele Cassioli

Category / Division: V1 / Vision Impaired

Over the last decade, Daniele’s combined achievements have continued to surpass all other male skiers.  He has competed at all 5 World Championships in the last decade and he has continued to push the boundaries, setting ever higher standards as can be seen by the amount of World Titles and Records he has attained.

In the last decade Daniele has been awarded the Athlete of the Year Award twice and has been on the podium an impressive 23 times at World Titled events resulting in:

  • 21 World Titles
  • 8 World Record (3 in Slalom, 4 in Tricks & 1 in Jump)

Daniele is a worthy winner of the Disabled Male Skier of the Decade.

Please note the following rule change has been made to the 2017 IWWF Disabled Rules:

D.10.01 – Skiing devices

Rule T.10.03.a is replaced with:

A skiing device is defined as a piece of equipment which fully supports the weight of a skier when he is in skiing position (D.12.05). If the maximum width of a skiing device does not exceed 30 percent of its overall length for jump and slalom skis and 35 percent of the overall length for trick skis, it is defined as a ski; if its maximum width exceeds 30 percent of its overall length for jump and slalom skis, or 35 percent of the overall length for trick skis, it is defined as a board.

Rule T.10.03.b is replaced with:

Any type of bindings may be used.

Rules T.10.03.c and T.10.03.d apply.

Rules T.10.03.e applies to all skiing devices.
